2021 10-Year MOC
The 10-Year MOC process will open on March 1, 2021. The Board will send letters to all eligible Diplomates whose certification expires in 2021, 2022 and 2023. The 2021 10-Year MOC Application will be available on the respective Diplomates' portal page.  The 10-Year MOC application will be due by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on April 30, 2021.  The late submission period will be May 1-17, 2021.  A fee of $350 will be assessed to all applications received between May 1-17, 2021.

2021 10-Year MOC Exam
Diplomates whose 10-year MOC applications are approved will be required to complete and pass the 2021 10-Year MOC Exam. The MOC Exam will be available online via your portal page between September 1 and October 29, 2021.

2021 5-year MOC
The 5-year MOC application will be available on June 28, 2021. The 5-Year MOC application will be due by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on September 10, 2021. The late submission period will be September 11-October 1, 2021.  A $350 late fee will be assessed to all applications received between September 11-October 1, 2021.

CME Credit for 10-year MOC
Diplomates who successfully complete the 10-year MOC Milestone can earn 60 AMA PRA Category I CME credits from the American Medical Association (AMA). Information on how to apply for the CME credit can be found on the AMA's website at www.ama-assn.org/go/directcredit.
Critical Care

The American Board of Thoracic Surgery considers it inappropriate to exclude its Diplomates from credentialing for care of thoracic surgical patients in a critical care setting based on the Diplomate's training or board certification. Our Diplomates have been trained in critical care management of thoracic surgical patients and they have successfully completed both written and oral examinations, which cover the critical care aspects of the thoracic surgical patients.
